VTU - Imerys CBE

VTU was awarded 2 consecutive EPCM-contracts by Imerys Carbon & Graphite Belgium. Each contract represents a multi-million Euro capex, and is aimed at expanding the existing production and treatment of Carbon Black. The scope included the entire engineering, from feasibility over basic to detailed engineering - executed in Austria (Vienna) and Italy (Bolzano, Mirano, and Milan) - as well as procurement. Construction management at site in Willebroek (Belgium) included site engineering, management of all contractors, as well as commissioning and start-up assistance.

MONSANTO PEYREHORADE , France

In Peyrehorade, France, the Monsanto Group invested significantly to expand operations, aiming to cultivate high-tech crops and improve grain processing efficiency. As site construction manager, we oversaw the project's execution with focus on timelines, quality, and safety. Construction began in April 2014, and by September of the same year, the plant was operational for a first harvest. The project involved contractors from various countries, with up to 450 skilled workers on-site. By August 2015, we achieved full compliance and doubled the plant's capacity while minimizing the carbon footprint, incorporating upgrades such as new bulk discharge systems, additional huskers, and biomass energy generation.

Tractebel / Enercon wind farm

Tractebel DS Fibre

Construction of a wind farm of Enercon wind turbines in Dendermonde for the Tractebel company.

The project included daily monitoring of the construction work as a site manager, with a primary focus on ensuring safety on-site and verifying the delivered quality.

EUROFRUITPORTS

The construction of a fruit terminal in Kallo demanded a comprehensive approach. It included supervising the conversion of an existing 9,000m² warehouse into a 12,500m² facility tailored for storing fruits and vegetables.

The project consisted of various components such as installing two 4000 kVA high-voltage cabins, constructing a reefer container yard for 450 units, and drafting specifications for medium and low voltage systems. Attention was also given to developing specifications for a direct expansion NH3 refrigeration system, and setting up facilities like the compressor room and battery charging station.

Meticulous site supervision ensured smooth execution. On top, optimization strategies for ship unloading and advice on procuring essential rolling stock like forklifts and stackers to enhance operational efficiency, were developed.

Lommel Bio Energy

The project scope encompassed the construction of premium insulation for fermentation tanks at Lommel Bio Energy.

Established in 2007, Group Machiels partnered with Farm Frites to create BioEnergy in Lommel. BioEnergy annually converts 150,000 tons of organic waste into renewable energy. Furthermore, it produces steam, process water, and fertilizer for agricultural use. BioEnergy primarily utilizes 130,000 tons of potato residues from Farm Frites, with the remaining 20,000 tons sourced from other food companies.

Q8

Overseeing the construction works of top-notch tank insulation for the Q8 tank park, situated on the right bank of the Schelde at the southernmost point of Antwerp. The Petroleum Quay forms an integral part of the harbor infrastructure of Petroleum South. This area, dedicated to the petroleum industry, was established between 1900 and 1902 on the border with Hoboken.

Noordkaai

Reviving a dated industrial site in Merksem led to the construction of a 12,000m² (casco) building. Our team managed the technical setup entirely, customizing the warehouse to accommodate the storage of fruits and vegetables.

The project comprised various components:

Two 1000 kVA high-voltage cabins, a 937,000 Wp PV installation, a battery charging station, and smart lighting are among the electrical enhancements. Additionally, a cascade ammonia/CO2 refrigeration system was installed for efficient cooling.

Structural improvements include the installation of cells in sandwich panels and the implementation of roller racking for optimal storage solutions. Moreover, we managed the subsidy application process to maximize project funding.

CTS - Takeda

CTS is a German company specialized in E&I and process automation. Together with their partner Vogelbusch, CTS was awarded an EPC contract to automate and increase the capacity of a pharmaceutical installation owned by Takeda (ex-Baxter) in Vienna. The project startup had to be realized during a shutdown. The new installation was delivered within planning and budget, and it was recognized as one of the most challenging shutdowns ever performed at the Takeda’s Vienna plant.
